the world of recovery mode

In November 2021, I created a game called recovery mode for as a part of my New Media Art course. My goal was to explore themes of artificial intelligence and to explore a potential version of humanity’s relationship with AI through a hypertext narrative, which I created using Twine.

In March 2022, I created a short film called The Incident at Byronomics for my Lab in Fiction Filmmaking. This film exists within the world of recovery mode, following an investigator named Chris as he discovers the abandoned Workstation 3 with disastrous consequences.

Super!

In comparison to saving the world, a press conference should be easy – but superhero Redeye finds she can’t bear it and escapes into a stairwell. There, she encounters villain-turned-hero Verena, who must convince Redeye to return to the conference to save both of their reputations.

Filmed in April 2022 for the Lab in Fiction Filmmaking.

Film Reviews for CUFPe

From the fall of 2018 to the spring of 2020, I was a staff writer for the Columbia Undergraduate Film Production’s Entertainment online magazine. This magazine is now defunct due to technical issues, but we are working with our advisor to revive the website. In the mean time, I’ve included clips below.

Reviews

Pre-pandemic, I spent a great chunk of time hopping on the 1 train to get to the nearest cinema (and dragging my friends along with me). To create my reviews, I combined my eye for detail with a careful consideration of my target audience of fellow students to give a fair, well-rounded critique. I’ve included samples of my reviews here and will be continuing this work in the blog section of this site.

Retrospectives

During my time at CUFPe, I created two series based around genre works. The first was a short-form series about Halloween movies that ran for the five Wednesdays in October 2018. The second was a longer series about sci fi tropes in film that unfortunately was cut short by the collapse of the CUFPe website. A favorite article from each is included here, and I can be contacted for further reading if interested.

Educational Content for Lauderdale Pathology

In 2020, while employed at Lauderdale Pathology, I researched, wrote, storyboarded, narrated, and oversaw the animation of educational video content. The finished product was a video titled "What Happens When You Send Your Biopsy to Lauderdale Pathology," meant to give clients information about provided services and to demystify medical processes.
